Title
Think of an appropriate title for this lab. Remember, this is a concise statement giving the reader an idea of what the lab is about.
Introduction
Background information (if necessary) for the lab. There might be a need to introduce the terminology and concepts that you would be using.
Purpose
Rephrase the question posed at the beginning of the lab. ("the purpose of this lab is to.....") What is the hypothesis of the lab. (this is the "if....then....." statement)
Materials
Make a list of all the materials needed for this lab
Procedure
list of the procedures. Use PAST TENSE. DO NOT use pronouns (eg: "Iodine was added to the starch...." NOT "We added iodine to the starch...")
Step 1
Step 2
Step 3...
Observations
Record what happened. Describe the results using clear specific terms. If it helps, organise your results into a table/graph form including titles and lables. DO NOT interpret the results or make conclusions. DO NOT use pronouns.
Conclusions
What do the results mean? Does the data answer the question in the purpose? Does it agree with your hypothesis? What did you learn from the lab? What are some sources of error?
